Rue de la Paix – Zazie – Between the French lyrics

A 2001 pop-rock song from the French singer-songwriter Zazie.

It uses the metaphor of a monopoly board game to denounce a society built on social inequality, environmental destruction and consumerism.

“Mettre un hotel rue de la Paix” is the UK equivalent of buying a hotel on Park Lane
Zazie uses the game’s rules of buying properties, collecting rent and going to jail to talk about how society prioritises wealth over human connections.
